Terms & Conditions

These General Terms and Conditions outline the rules and regulations governing the use of the Pickriders app. The Pickriders app is a technology designed to connect users with nearby dispatch riders to facilitate the efficient delivery of packages and completion of errands within cities.

In this document, "us" or "we" refers to Pickriders, which is operated by Pickriders LTD, a privately-owned company incorporated under the laws of Nigeria with the registration number RC-6994078.

To use the Pickriders app, you must agree to the following terms and conditions:

  1. Using the Pickriders App
    • Pickriders operates as an information society service through its app, facilitating the connection between users and dispatch riders for delivery requests. Dispatch riders, working independently or through a company, provide transportation services to users. It's important to note that Pickriders is not responsible for the fulfillment of the contract between the user and the dispatch rider. Any disputes related to consumer rights, legal obligations, or the provision of transportation services are to be resolved directly between users and dispatch riders. Information about dispatch riders and their services can be found in the Pickriders app.
    • Users enter into a contract with the dispatch rider through the Pickriders app to receive transportation services. Depending on the payment options available in your location, you can choose to pay for the service in cash or through Pickriders In-App Payment. The charges will include applicable taxes as required by law, along with any other relevant fees like booking fees, tolls, airport surcharges, or processing fees for split payments. Additionally, users can provide tips to dispatch riders, either directly or through Pickriders In-App Payment, with a maximum tip amount at our discretion.
    • When installing the Pickriders app, your mobile number is linked to your Pickriders user account and added to our database. If you change your mobile number, please notify Pickriders within 7 days so we can anonymize your account data. Failure to do so may result in the reassignment of your old number to a new user.
  2. Promotional Codes
    • Pickriders may send promotional codes to users on a per-promotion basis. These promotional code credits can be applied to payment after a ride or for other related services and benefits, including third-party services, subject to specific terms and expiration dates.
    • If your trip's cost exceeds the redeemable credit, the remaining balance will be deducted from your chosen payment method. Promo code credits are applicable on a per-ride basis and do not carry over to future rides.
    • Pickriders reserves the right to cancel any promotional code at any time, especially if they are being used unlawfully, fraudulently, issued by mistake, or if they have expired.
  3. Pickriders In-App Payment
    • Depending on your location, you can pay for delivery services via various methods, such as cards, mobile carrier billing, or other options available through the Pickriders App. In facilitating these payments, Pickriders acts as a commercial agent for the delivery service providers. Each dispatch rider authorizes Pickriders to act as their commercial agent, including accepting payments from users and forwarding them to the dispatch rider. Users are responsible for ensuring that payments are made and that sufficient funds are available.
    • Users can also choose to tip dispatch riders using Pickriders In-App Payment. This tip can be made through the app, and Pickriders does not deduct a commission from it. The full tip amount, minus any applicable taxes, goes to the dispatch rider. Pickriders retains the right to withhold tips if they are suspected of being fraudulent, illegal, or used for purposes other than gratuity for the service.
    • When using Pickriders In-App Payment for transportation services, Pickriders handles your payments and transfers the funds to the dispatch rider. Additional user data may be requested to verify the payment method.
    • Users should be aware that third-party payment providers (e.g., mobile operators or banks) may impose additional fees for processing payments related to Pickriders In-App Payment. Pickriders is not responsible for these fees and disclaims liability. Users should review the terms and conditions of their payment method's provider for any additional requirements.
    • Pickriders assumes responsibility for the functionality of Pickriders In-App Payment and provides support for resolving related issues. Disputes regarding Pickriders In-App Payment are also handled by Pickriders.
    • Upfront Fare: Users may have the option to agree to a fixed fare for a specific dispatch service through the Upfront Fare feature. The fare is communicated via the Pickriders App before requesting the service. The Upfront Fare does not apply if there are changes to the destination, significant delays due to traffic or unforeseen circumstances, or if the service significantly deviates from the original estimate.
  4. Ordering and Canceling Dispatch Services
    • Placing an order for a dispatch service occurs when a user requests the service, and the dispatch rider agrees to undertake the task.
    • Upon confirmation by the dispatch rider, users enter into a separate agreement with the dispatch rider for the provision of the service. Pickriders is not a party to this agreement.
    • Canceling an ordered dispatch service refers to instances where a user rejects, cancels, or refuses the service after a dispatch rider has accepted the request. Cancellation fees may apply after a specified time period.
    • Repeatedly canceling dispatch service requests within 24 hours may lead to temporary or extended account suspension.
    • If a user fails to meet the dispatch rider at the specified location and time after receiving a notification of the rider's arrival, the request will be considered canceled. Dispatch riders may also cancel requests, but Pickriders is not responsible for such occurrences.
    • Upon the dispatch rider's arrival and notification, the Pickriders app may initiate fare charges based on waiting time.
    • Users causing damage to the dispatch rider's bike or property may be required to pay a penalty and compensate for damages. If not paid, Pickriders may pursue claims on behalf of the dispatch rider.
  5. License to use Pickriders App
    • Users are granted a non-exclusive, revocable, royalty-free right to access and use the Pickriders app in accordance with these General Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Notice, and applicable app store terms. This right is not transferable or sublicensable.
    • Liability
    • Pickriders operates as an information society service connecting users and dispatch riders, and therefore, cannot guarantee the quality or absence of defects in dispatch services. Availability of transportation services is dependent on the behavior of dispatch riders, and Pickriders does not guarantee constant service availability.
    • The Pickriders app does not provide or mediate dispatch services. It serves as a platform to organize the provision of these services.
    • Consumer refund rights do not apply to Pickriders app orders, and requesting a refund does not cancel the service agreement.
    • The Pickriders app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we strive to correct software faults promptly, occasional technical issues may impact app functionality. Pickriders is not liable for such disruptions.
    • Pickriders, its representatives, directors, and employees are not liable for any losses or damages incurred while using the app or during dispatch service provision, including property damage, monetary loss, loss of profit, business, contracts, contacts, goodwill, reputation, data loss, or any other type of loss or damage.
    • Pickriders, its representatives, directors, and employees are not liable for any losses or damages incurred while using the app or during dispatch service provision, including property damage, monetary loss, loss of profit, business, contracts, contacts, goodwill, reputation, data loss, or any other type of loss or damage.
    • Users agree to indemnify and hold Pickriders, its affiliates, representatives, employees, and directors harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses resulting from their use of the Pickriders app and dispatch services.
    • Pickriders may terminate user access to the app for breaches of these General Terms and Conditions or to protect the platform's integrity and driver safety.
  6. Using the Pickriders App Responsibly
    • Disputes or quality issues with dispatch services are to be resolved following the rules of the dispatch service provider or relevant authorities.
    • Users are encouraged to provide feedback through the app to help improve dispatch service quality.
    • Good faith use of the Pickriders app and respectful behavior towards dispatch riders is expected. Account suspension may occur for violations of these terms or malicious activities.
    • While Pickriders aims to onboard respectful and professional dispatch riders, it cannot guarantee the behavior of all service providers. Users encountering problematic dispatch services should report them to the relevant authorities or Pickriders customer support.
  7. Amendments to the General Terms and Conditions
    • Users will be notified of substantial amendments to these General Terms and Conditions via email or app notifications. Continued use of the Pickriders app implies acceptance of these changes.
